Proper diet is also vital in the treatment and prevention of gum disease. Lots of Vitamin C is important to prevent the gums from bleeding. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant and helps in repairing connective tissue and helps speed up the regeneration of bone teeth. Grapefruit, mango, oranges, strawberry, broccoli, and brussels sprouts are foods which have a good source of Vitamin C.

Vitamin D is also very important when treating gum disease. It has anti-inflammatory properties and help in reducing vulnerability to gum disease. Aside from multivitamins, Vitamin D can be gotten through sun exposure as the UV rays can trigger the skin to synthesize Vitamin D. Doctors recommend that people should get sun exposure for at least 10-15 minutes twice a week during the early hours of sunrise.

Stress has also been found as a factor in gum disease especially in gum bleeding. To prevent and treat gum disease, avoid stressful activities and situations. Engage in stress-reducing activities that help you relax and have pleasure. And of course, proper dental care is vital in protecting your gums from disease.
